It is game on for business in Bordon that is walking, running, and even swimming to Paris – but will never cross the channel.
Bordon-based Fullers Fulfilment, a multi-channel fulfilment specialist, is tackling its biggest challenge yet – the 425km Sports Challenge.
In a nod to the recent Paris Olympics and Paralympics, the company is encouraging staff to walk, run, cycle, or swim the distance between London and Paris, a total of 425km.
Teams of three from its Bordon headquarters, as well as its warehouse facilities in Slough and Leamington Spa, are competing to see who can cover the distance to ‘France’ first.
“In the spirit of the Paris Olympics and Paralympics, we were really keen to launch an activity that would bring staff together, foster competitiveness, and benefit society,” said Lilla Horvath, Fulfilment Services Analyst at Fullers Fulfilment.
The challenge, which began in August and runs until the end of November, aims to raise £750 for Switch The Play – the UK’s only charity supporting athletes transitioning to life after sport.
“The charity resonated with a number of our staff, including myself, as an ultra-marathon runner who understands the impact of sport on life and mental health,” Lilla added.
To date, the six competing teams have already walked over 1,800 kilometres towards their £750 fundraising goal.
Incentives for staff, apart from bragging rights, include prizes for the first team to ‘reach’ Paris, the first team to ‘reach’ the English coast, and the team that walks the most kilometres.
