It could game over for traditional indoor tennis in East Hampshire as members have been padlocked out of their club in a sad moment for the sport in the district.

A six-month campaign has been fought against plans to replace the indoor courts at Kingsley Tennis Centre with padel alternatives.

But there’s been division and dozens of members who turned up for daily play last week found the gates unexpectedly padlocked with no reason or notice given.

The centre’s phone number,  www.kingsleytennis.co.uk website and Facebook page were not operational at the time of writing.

Some of the club’s members feel “devastated” and “betrayed” by the development, coming after a tennis-a-thon raised £1,000 for Young Lives Vs Cancer.

But the lockout means the club, which is part of the local tennis league and LTA, have no home with an appeal being launched to find a possible plot to rebuild their club. Anyone who can help should call Janet on 07818 420318.
