Youngsters in Bordon could get an early Christmas present as a sports and play area is getting an exciting revamp.

Swings, an outdoor gym, new goalposts and a basketball hoop all featured on a wishlist when EHDC asked residents what they wanted at Hollybrook Park.

And they should be delivered just in time for December 25 with work set to begin on improvements early next month.

The project will be largely funded by housebuilders as £164,000 of developer contributions has been earmarked for the scheme.

Cllr Andy Tree, EHDC deputy leader and portfolio holder for the Whitehill & Bordon, is glad he was able to keep a promise.

He said: “Back in 2023, a number of residents expressed concern to me, saying they felt Hollybrook playpark needed improvements and that residents in this part of Bordon deserved a proper upgrade.

“I agreed and decided to try and do something about it, saying ‘watch this space!’

“I am really pleased to have been able to approve £164,662 to be spent on the improvements, with the funding coming from developer contributions earmarked for open spaces and sports facilities.”

Cllr Tree said he was “particularly pleased” that many of the requests made residents during the public consultation phase had been incorporated into the final design.

He added: “This is a really exciting project where the playpark will be suitable for wide range of age groups and will usable all year round.

“I can’t wait to see it completed and being used."
