Rushmoor Knights beat Wembley Stallions 34-19 to secure their place in the BAFACL Division One final.
The Knights faced the Stallions for the third time this season.
The first quarter saw both teams trade touchdowns. Stallions defensive back Stef Atidzah recovered a fumble on the Knights’ own 30-yard line to run in and score. Charlie Rogers added the conversion to make it 7-0.
Harvey Macey ran in from five yards with an immediate response for the Knights, and Travis Carpenter added the conversion to make it 7-7.
Midway through the second quarter Stephen Godfrey received a pass from quarterback Calvin Stitt and ran 35 yards to give the Knights the lead. Carpenter added the conversion to make it 14-7.
The Knights extended their advantage at the end of the half. Stitt found Godfrey from 15 yards, and an easy catch in the end zone made it 20-7.
Macey ran home from seven yards out, and Carpenter added the conversion to make it 27-7.
The Stallions got off to a fast start in the second half with a short pass into the end zone by Ted Watts to make it 27-13.
Stitt then ran home from 15 yards and Carpenter added the conversion to make it 34-13.
Watts played a 29-yard touchdown pass to Ishmach Asankomah in the end zone to make it 34-19, but the Knights ran out the clock to reach the final at Coventry at 12pm on Sunday, September 8, against Nottingham Caesars.
The only concern for the Knights was an injury to Stitt, who left the ground with his arm in a sling.
Whatever the result of the final, the Knights will be promoted to the Premier League after a five-year absence having won the National South crown.
Rushmoor’s under-16 and under-19 sides have also reached their finals.
