Badshot Lea produced a confident performance as they comfortably beat Guildford City 2-0 at Westfield Lane to reach the Aldershot Senior Cup semi-finals.
Goals from George Hedley and Baback Dehghani sealed the Baggies’ place in the last four.
The home side started brightly and deservedly took the lead in the 20th minute through Hedley’s powerful header.
The Baggies continued to press for the rest of the first half, but were unable to add a second before the break.
David Eaplinge came on at half-time, and the substitute nearly doubled the home side’s lead when his powerful shot was well saved by Guildford keeper Mac Chisholm at his near post.
The visitors were then reduced to ten men on 55 minutes when Frankie Jamieson was sent off for dissent.
The Baggies soon made their numerical advantage count and doubled their advantage in spectacular finish in the 61st minute when Dehghani’s thunderbolt from 25 yards out found the top right-hand corner of the net.
The home side enjoyed plenty of possession and territory as they pushed for a third, but they ultimately ran out comfortable 2-0 winners.
Badshot Lea will travel to fellow Isthmian League South Central Division outfit Hartley Wintney in the Aldershot Senior Cup semi-finals.
Next up for the Baggies is a game against Hanworth Villa in the Isthmian League South Central Division on Tuesday night. The match will be played at Slough Town’s Arbour Park ground and will kick-off at 8pm.
