Silence will fall on Whitehill & Bordon next Monday (November 11) as the town remembers the many who gave their tomorrows for our today.
Hundreds are expected to gather around the war memorial and Camp Road for the annual Whitehill Town Council Remembrance Service.
Last year’s service was a moving and well-attended event with 200 soldiers from 4 Armoured Close Support of REME marching to the site on the corner of Ennerdale Road.
Some 55 with an affiliation to W&B will take part in this year’s march past.
“Whilst there will not be as many soldiers as last year, we are still honoured that they will be back in W&B not forgetting the important part that REME had in our town,” said a spokesperson for the council.
Participants will gather by The Shed at 10.10am with the march along Camp Road to the War Memorial beginning ten minutes later.
The service will start at 10.40am with the sounding of theLast Postfollowing the traditional two-minute silence at 11am. Wreaths will be laid with relatives of the fallen, community groups and members of the public able to lay their own at the memorial.
A service sheet will be available on the day while a short ceremony at the Bordon Military Cemetery on Bolley Avenue will follow the service.
Free parking will be available on the day at The Shed with none available near the war memorial, more details can be found at www.whitehilltowncouncil.gov.uk/remembrance
