AN 18-year-old man has been arrested, and a serious case review launched, following the death of a six-week-old girl from Bordon.

Ezmai Martin was found unresponsive by her mother at their home in New Road, on Sunday, June 28, after suffering a fractured skull.

She was taken to hospital, but later died of her injuries.

An 18-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and has been bailed until October 6, pending further investigation.

The Hampshire Safe-guarding Children Board has commissioned a review into the circumstances of the death.

A spokeswoman for Hampshire County Council offered “deepest sympathies to the family for their terrible loss”.

An inquest was opened in Basingstoke on Wednesday, August 5, and adjourned until October.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: “Police were called to a flat in New Road, Bordon, on June 28 following reports that a six-week-old baby girl had been taken unwell.

“Shortly after 5pm officers were met at the flat by colleagues from the South Central Ambulance Service. The girl was taken to the Royal Surrey Hospital (Guildford) and later transferred to St George’s Hospital in London (Toot-ing) where she later sadly died.”
