A PAIR of fundraising brothers can’t contain their eggs-citement as they’re bringing a huge event back to its traditional home of Petersfield Festival Hall.
Jeremy and Martin Holmes have confirmed the annual Easter Charity Market is returning to the town centre venue after a spell at The Petersfield School.
The charity market was last held at the Festival Hall in December 2019.
Jeremy said: “After a four year move to the Petersfield School main hall we are back at our traditional home. The cost of hiring the Festival Hall is considerable, but it will be nice to be more central and at a bigger venue.”
The Easter Market was first held at the Festival Hall in 1988 and was held every year there until Easter 2019. Jeremy added “The stallholders are delighted to be back and the Town Council staff have been very supportive.”
The brothers, who have fundraised for a number of projects and appeals at the QA Hospital in Cosham, handed over a cheque for £825 to Portsmouth Hospitals Charity Cancer Services Fund.
The money was raised from the profit on stall rents, a raffle, donations and the book stall takings at the recent Christmas Charity Market.
Michelle Bowdidge, Fundraising Manager at Portsmouth Hospitals, said it was another fantastic result. “Congratulations and thank you for your continued support over so many years. Good luck for Easter.”

*A much shorter printed version of this article in last week’s Post stated that Easter Markets were held in the hall until 1999, when they actually continued until 2019. Apologies to the Holmes brothers for the error.
