Hampshire Police have confirmed that a Lindford man has been charged with murder following the death of a 96-year-old in Liss.

Joshua Powell was arrested on Sunday in connection with the death of Emma Finch.

The latter’s body was found at her Mill Road home around 4.30am last Friday (May 17) by firefighters attending a call-out with police arriving shortly afterwards.

Mr Powell, aged 26 of Elmfield Court, was yesterday charged with the victim’s murder. 

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court today (Thursday, May 23).

A police presence was maintained at the house near the level crossing throughout the weekend and early this week.
