Edgeborough School’s pupils achieved a 68 per cent success rate in this year’s UK Mathematics Trust (UKMT) junior mathematical challenge.
The annual challenge sees 300,000 pupils across the UK take part. Edgeborough had 69 pupils, from Years 5 to 8, taking part – a 53.3 per cent increase from the previous year. Collectively, pupils gained five gold certificates, 26 silvers and 16 bronze.
Edgeborough headteacher Daniel Cox said: “Congratulations to all pupils who took part. To have such a high uptake of pupils wanting to take on the UKMT junior maths challenge is one thing ; to see such a high level of achievement is incredibly special.
“Our head of maths, Matthew Hawes, and his team work incredibly hard with all our pupils to inspire a love of the subject. These results showcase his and his team’s dedication.
“Their expertise, support, challenge and encouragement drive our pupils’ strong mathematical knowledge – leading to these fantastic results.”
