TODDLERS in the Haslemere area were invited to St Ives School for a fun morning in the school’s eight acre forest.
This new event, aptly named Toddler Tuesday Forest Fun, was open to all two to four year-olds and their parents and carers and was completely free of charge.
The children and their parents enjoyed many different activities together from rope swinging to den building, making bird feeders and playing in the mud kitchen.
All the children left with a goodie bag and a homemade St Ives cookie.
St Ives believes in the value of Forest School and all pupils from Nursery to Year 3 enjoy Forest School every week.
The Forest School has a dedicated leader, Mrs Greatbatch, who organised the Toddler Tuesday event.
She said: “It was so lovely to hold our first Toddler Tuesday and see so many families enjoying the forest. Being in nature is a fantastic way of helping children develop social and communication skills along with confidence and self-esteem and, most importantly, it’s great fun.”
St Ives is holding Toddler Tuesday Forest Fun events on the second Tuesday of each month during term time – February 8, March 8, May 10 and June 14.
They are also holding a Forest Fun day on Saturday, March 12, for two to seven year-olds.
