WINNERS of a school sunflower growing competition have been celebrated at Weyford Primary School in Bordon.
Weyford was one of five schools to win £250 to invest into its outside environment after taking part in open space management company Meadfleet’s first schools’ sunflower growing competition.
Children planted their seeds at school during a science unit, before taking their plants home over the summer holidays where they grew and looked after them.
Lynne Roadnight, deputy headteacher at Weyford, said: “The children really enjoyed planting the seeds and watching them grow.
“I am particularly proud of the way the children took their plants home over the summer holidays and carried on looking after them and keeping me updated, via email and our Facebook page, of their progress.”
