Petersfield Town produced a superb performance to pick up a comprehensive 4-0 victory at AFC Varndeanians in the Southern Combination Football League Premier Division on Saturday.

A dominant display from Petersfield saw them pick up the three points in style at the Withdean Sports Complex.

Kian Towse and Asad Ssemwogerere scored in the first half before Callum Kimber’s penalty and a second from Ssemwogerere rounded off an impressive display which could have ended with an even bigger shoreline had the visitors been more clinical.

Despite the hosts being in good form it was Petersfield who set the tempo early on.

Early pressure brought the opening goal through Towse.

A superb ball over the top from Harrison Cable was taken on by Towse, who slotted through the home keeper’s legs.

Ssemwogere doubled the lead in the 21st minute, although he was helped by poor defending from the hosts.

A long throw from Will Webb caused trouble as Omar Bukleb failed to clear, with Ssemwogerere swooping to finish the chance.

As the half went on Petersfield continued to put the hosts under pressure.

Cable struck the inside of the post before Towse struck the post and Cable had an effort well saved just before half-time.

The Rams continued to be on the front foot after the break and Cable won a penalty four minutes into the second half.

Kimber stepped up to make it 3-0 and put the game to bed.

The hosts created a couple of chances, but the Rams remained in control of the game.

Petersfield pressed impressively throughout the match and went 4-0 up in the 83rd minute.

The visitors attacked down the right-hand side and Towse fired a shot goalwards which Ssemwogerere touched home to score his second of the afternoon.
