Farnham Town Flares' over-50s and over-60s squads recently participated in the first FA Walking Football Cup at the Xcel Centre in Walton-on-Thames.
Despite their best efforts, the teams couldn't advance to the next round.
The over-60s team kicked off their campaign with a win against Walton, but couldn't maintain the momentum, falling to Dorking and Godalming in subsequent matches.
The over-50s also faced tough competition, managing a draw against Dorking and beating Wimbledon, but they slipped to defeat against Walton. The Flares then lost their final group game 1-0 to Chelsea in a tight match. Farnham's goalscorers were Mark Clark, Mark Berezicki, Drew Powell and Ashley Jones.
Godalming and Chelsea secured their places in the cup's next stage, which will be held in Islington at the end of October.
Farnham Town Flares chairman Andy Cundy said: “It was a fantastic experience for our lads to compete in the FA Cup.
“The level of competition was high, and while the results didn't go our way, the spirit and effort shown by our players were commendable. We're already looking forward to next year's tournament.”
Just days later, Farnham Town's multi-age squad returned to the Xcel Centre for the fifth round of the Surrey FA League.
The team delivered a strong performance, drawing 2-2 with Chelsea before securing a convincing 4-1 victory over Teddington. However, they narrowly missed out against Wimbledon, losing 2-1. Mark Clark, Sam Harness and Garry Humphrey netted for Farnham.
Assistant manager Sam Harness said: “Our multi-age squad has been showing great form in the league this season.
“The draw against Chelsea and the win over Teddington were particularly pleasing, and although we lost to Wimbledon, the lads played with heart. We're confident this momentum will carry us forward.”
