Alton’s second team beat Kerala by 77 runs in Division One of the Hampshire Cricket League on Saturday.

Kerala won the toss and chose to bowl first. Alton made steady progress and reached 100 in the 23rd over.

Skipper Andrew Postles reached 50 off 60 balls but his partnership with Ethan Van Der Linde fell short of three figures as the Alton opener fell for 37. Postles was bowled by Bobino Rajan for 75.

Howard Gadsby and Michael Heffernan moved Alton to 185 before Gadsby fell for 25. Heffernan followed for 37.

Tom Green was run out for ten, but Matt Crane (23) and Tom Andrews (12 not out) added valuable runs as Alton made 243 for six in 45 overs.

Arul Appavoo made the breakthrough in the field for Alton, as Presh Prasad fell for 14.

Rajan and Prajun Kallidil added 60 before Crane (two for 39) dismissed Rajan for 19.

Crane trapped Jubin Karippai in front without scoring, and when Kartik Tank bowled Kallidil Kerala had slumped to 76 for four.

Tank (three for 12) took two further wickets as the visitors slipped to 92 for six.

Andrews (one for 15) bowled Namith Pattampurath for 11, but rain curtailed the visitors’ innings at 108 for seven as Alton ran out convincing victors.

Alton’s third team beat Liphook’s second team by eight wickets.

Ian Carpenter (two for 15), Lee Partner (four for 20) and Gemma Porter (two for 30) were in the wickets as Alton bowled the visitors out for 139.

Alton lost an early wicket, but a century partnership from Sam Bridger (63 not out) and Sam Crook (52) broke the back of the chase.

Alton’s women’s team fell to defeat at Cove. Amelia Marshall scored 63 as Alton were bowled out for 98. Cove knocked the runs off in the 20th over.
