THE 70th Victory 5 race on Sunday was also the fifth race of the Hampshire Road Race League and the field included a squad from Alton Runners.

It was the third consecutive weekend of racing at this busy stage of the winter season.

The five-mile event started and finished at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth and over 650 runners took part.

There were good opportunities for personal best times in the dry, calm conditions and the provisional results show that Alton’s Eli Dawson, first to finish for the club in 202nd overall, recorded a PB 33mins 13secs.

Alton Runners’ first lady home was Vanessa Lowe in 34-17, giving her 252nd overall and third in her age category.

Other Alton provisional results: Caroline Chalk 36-17, 297th; Jim Armitage 36-32, 304th; Michael Pearce 37-07, 321st; Jeff Smart 38-02, 338th; Jane Scrase 39-39, 374th (PB); Fran Light 41-08, 416th; Richard Scrase 43-52, 495th; Caroline Freeman 46-12, 541st; Terry Blake 54-03, 649th; Terry Newman 55-06, 655th; Jenny French 1-00-08, 675th.
