ARCHERS from across the United Kingdom converged on Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire for the Indoor National Championships.
Three young archers from Alton & Four Marks Archery Club took part in the junior event. This took place over three sessions, with over 300 archers competing across the four different bow styles – recurve, compound, longbow and barebow.
Sophie Garrett came fourth in the under-18 ladies’ barebow competition. Sophie has previously competed at the Nationals in the under-16 recurve and finished 19th at her first national event two years ago.
Luca Wright, who trains and competes with Winchester College as well as Alton & Four Marks Archers, placed 21st in the under-18 men’s recurve and went on to shoot in the senior event on the Sunday.
Aspen Salisbury, competing in her first indoor national event, came 27th in the under-16 ladies’ recurve. She has had a successful outdoor season this year and was rated 37th on the 2016 junior target rankings.
Sophie and Aspen both take part in National Performance Pathway training at the National Sports Centre, Lilleshall, home to Archery GB during the year, in addition to their local participation in the sport.
