A ROW of townhouses could replace a boarded-up eyesore in a neglected corner of Petersfield.
Bargate Developments want to build eight properties on the site of the former Kings Arms youth centre and Lab99 gym.
The plans include four townhouses and four apartments, ranging in size from one to four bedrooms, and two commercial units.
The current building earmarked for demolition is “deteriorating” and has “no particular merit” according to the applicants.
They believe previous schemes for the site have “fallen short of the quality required” for the plot.
“The form and scale of the proposed building respects the surroundings and will present an attractive elevation,” states the firm’s heritage statement.
The application is likely to be discussed by the town council’s planning committee this coming Tuesday.
