The GOVERNMENT’S new Way To Work campaign to create 500,000 jobs in the UK has been given a boost by Bordon hospitality business 4U2U Group Ltd.
It has just launched Shack, its third business at The Shed and fourth in Bordon. Managing director and founder Dayne Cartwright said: “We are committed to providing not just jobs but careers in the hospitality industry.
“I started work in hospitality and it has given me valuable key skills which enabled me to build a successful career and helped successfully launch the businesses we now run.”
Way To Work aims to get people off Universal Credit and into work to fill a record-high number of vacancies.
Mr Cartwright added: “A career in hospitality can take you all over the world, and we hope that 4U2U Group will offer anyone with the right attitude and motivation a set of skills which will help them in whatever direction their life takes them.
“The 4U2U board is passionate about training and providing opportunities for our staff to build wider skill sets and develop themselves.”
The 4U2U Group Ltd has grown from two employees to more than 50 staff at four locations in just over six months, with 34 in Bordon.
The group plans to increase its workforce to more than 70 in the next few months, with more local jobs and plans to expand further afield.
Andy Tree, a 4U2U director and leader of Whitehill Town Council, said: “The development of jobs in the town is a key step to building a better Whitehill & Bordon and it’s gratifying to be a part of that growth, providing employment opportunities in our expanding town. This also supports the Whitehill & Bordon Regeneration Company’s stated goal of one new job in the local area for every home built.”
Whitehill & Bordon Regeneration Company project leader James Childs said: “The successful regeneration of the town relies heavily on local businesses like 4U2U and it is therefore encouraging that local jobs are being created through their great efforts at The Shed.
“The Whitehill & Bordon Regeneration Company is a local employer too and we are excited that we will soon be opening even more shops and venues in the town to provide a wide range of new employment opportunities in Whitehill & Bordon.”
Chancellor Rishi Sunak recently said: “It’s important everyone has the opportunity and support to find a good job to help them get on in life.
“That’s why we’re doubling down on our Plan For Jobs with this new campaign to harness the talent of jobseekers and support employers to fill vacancies, find work and create new opportunities.”
The Office for National Statistics has shown the demand for workers is there, with a record 1.2 million vacancies to fill – 59 per cent more than pre-pandemic levels.
