The waiting is finally over and the class of 2024 has been dismissed for good at Farnham College.

There were tears and cheers on Thursday (August 15) as hundreds of students received their A-Level results. Parents and teachers watched nervously as envelopes were opened and future paths were determined.

Many students checked their results online but for some pupils and parents, a trip to the college to collect their results in person is a rite of passage.

This did not deter students from checking their UCAS status to see if they got into their chosen universities before making the trip to collect their results.

Some students brought gifts for the staff with Darcy O’Dwyer bringing her teacher, Pat, a bunch of flowers.

Darcy said: “Pat is one of the most amazing people, she is like a friend to me, she is great.”

One of the first students to collect his results was Arthur. There was a brief flutter of nerves as he opened the envelope, but a smile developed as he achieved the grades needed to study nursing in Plymouth.

Star pupils such as Amber Hastings also came in early to collect their results. After getting an interview for Oxford University but not getting a place, she opted to study English at UCL.

She needed AAA but the A*, A, B and C grades were more than enough to secure her place. The student celebrated her results by travelling Wembley to shake it off in style watching Taylor Swift perform live.

Another student celebrated by spending time with family, going to the pub and relaxing with friends.

Star student and regular performer at Queen’s Head on the Borough, Charly Pawson, will be heading up to Hull after receiving a scholarship to study drama. Charly received an A*A B and a distinction in acting.

The staff at the college were praised by the students for their help and support, with Charly feeling mixed emotions. The student said: “I’m sad to be leaving, I really really want to bring it (the college) with me.”

Farnham’s links to architecture remain strong as Caleb Brighton received an A* in the subject and has received offers for apprenticeships with the University of Portsmouth and Stedman Blower in Liphook.

Caleb was one of a number of high-achieving students in the subject with more than 50 per cent achieving A* or A.

Farnham College congratulated the 138 students who passed their qualifications. The college achieved a 96.5 per cent pass rate which is 3.2 per cent up on last year. Eleven of the 16 A Level subjects at Farnham College secured 100 per cent pass rates

Hannah O’Neill, Group Director of Academic Studies Faculty at Activate Learning, said: "We are immensely proud of our A Level learners at Farnham College, who have worked tirelessly to achieve their goals.

“Many have overcome challenges along the way, demonstrating resilience and commitment to success. We wish every learner the best of luck for their next steps.”
