The cold wind of change is blowing through Bordon as a street food supremo has decided to hit the road.
The Shed is losing another vendor as the shutters will soon come down for good at Siam Oishi.
Justin Mugridge and his team have served up delicious pan-Asian fare at the site since its opening day, with its success leading to the opening of a new kitchen at the Bear & Ragged Staff in Wrecclesham.
But he’s decided to concentrate on his new venture up the A325 as the optimism surrounding The Shed has disappeared along with his neighbours.
He said: “The lease is up in mid-November and it’s just time to move on, as there’s been a slow decline over the years.
“We’ve lost a lot Dylan’s, then Hermanos, and we’re now the only people from the beginning along with The Tap.
“When we moved we were promised quite a lot, not just at The Shed, but it’s not really happened and probably won’t for quite some time.”
Posts have circulated online of the growing number of units available at The Shed and the decreasing number of food options. Mr Mugridge feels The Shed might be more popular if there was more to attract people to the area, but winter could be an even bigger disincentive to visit.
“Another problem with The Shed is that during winter it gets really cold,” added Mr Mugridge.
“People know that and it shows, so they don’t really come in that much during February and March.”
