WOODLEA Primary School, in Whitehill, has celebrated its 25th anniversary.

The day started with an assembly to mark the milestone, with parents and governors invited to see a “tree of hands” painted for the occasion.

All pupils and staff had added hand-print leaves to the tree.

The school also celebrated the October 2 anniversary with the planting of a time capsule, which it hopes will be dug up in another 25 years.

Parents were invited to see what their children had put in the capsule.

Chairman of governors Phil Coverdale said: “It was nice to see that the sun was shining for this special occasion.

“The children had obviously put a lot of thought and effort into the contents of the time capsule and it will be fascinating to see how life compares in 25 years time.”

Headteacher Marcella Dobson: “We wanted it to be a special occasion and the tree of hands will be displayed on the wall in the hall near the tapestry that the children completed when the school was first opened in 1992.”
