The neglected Mill Chase play area in Bordon has been given a six-figure revamp with more improvements in the pipeline.

Former Paralympian and town resident Rob Allen did the honours along with Cllr Catherine Clark in one of her first engagements as EHDC chairman.

The facility owned and managed by Whitehill Town Council was in desperate need of an upgrade as its equipment was several years old while flooding issues often left the site partly submerged.

It was reopened in time for the half term break but the ball started rolling last year when WTC was awarded developer contributions by the district council, only for more flooding to delay installation work.

But the floodwaters have long receded thanks to new and successful drainage with the improved facility boasting inclusive, sensory and creative play items along with a picnic area and tables.

There’s more good news for Whitehill & Bordon youngsters with improvements now being lined up for the Cypress Road kickabout.

The town council has launched an online survey with feedback being used to shape the plans and a further application for Section106 developer contributions.

The survey can be found at www.surveymonkey.com/RDWKG22 or residents can either email [email protected] or call 01420 473123 to take part.

“This (Mill Chase) is one of many playparks on our radar to improve,” said Cllr Andy Tree, WTC leader.

“Successfully applying for developer contributions means we do not have to use council tax to pay for this, which is a win-win.”
