GREATHAM Primary School pupils represented East Hampshire at the Hampshire School Games.

Children from Greatham competed in netball, basketball, tennis and were part of a joint team with Bordon Junior School for gymnastics. The games - held this year at Aldershot Garrison on Thursday and Friday, June 29 and 30 - take place annually and are aimed at encouraging young people into competitive sport.

Built on the legacy of the London 2012 Olympics, the Hampshire School Games bring together primary and secondary schoolchildren, over two days, to compete in a range of events.

Greatham Primary School headteacher Jo Goman said: “The school is delighted to have so many students representing our area at the Hampshire Games. We’d like to thank our local community and parents who have been helping the children get ready.

“As a school, it is so important to us that children not only care, aspire and achieve in their academic studies, but get a chance to shine in other areas as well.”

More than 3,000 schoolchildren competed in the Hampshire School Games, which are aimed at reviving competition in school sports.
