A residents group has given a Bordon community a taste of things to come after holding a memorable first.
The Heritage Quarter Residents Association did itself proud with its inaugural summer fete last Sunday.
The afternoon event on Parade Park attracted a big crowd with highlights including a Lindford Club bar and Phoenix Theatre storytelling sessions.
Helping Hounds also set up stall, Hollybrook Mobile Farm brought some cute animals along while the likes of Simply Hog Roast, Cookie Bird, Heat Wave and Dylan’s ice cream provided food and drink.
The event had been two months in the making with the group’s chair, Jonathan Ralston, admitting to having a few sleepness nights about the weather and turnout as the big day approached.
But he and his colleagues needn’t have worried, as the turnout and feedback was both excellent.
He said: “The HQRA was formed last November with the purpose of providing a service to residents of the Barratts and David Wilson Homes developments.
“This is our first family fete and we’ve had of generous sponsors who have supported us. We’ve been delighted with the turnout and we think this is a potential starting point to driving our group forward.”
East Hampshire District Council chairman, Cllr Catherine Clark, and Whitehill town mayor Cllr James Fryer were among the civic figures who gave their support, with hopes high of making the summer fete an annual event.
In the meantime, coffee mornings and more support for the local neighbourhood watch association is in the offing.
