An East Londoner who was caught with more than 30 bags of crack cocaine in his car has been jailed for five years for drug dealing offences in East Hampshire and Surrey.
A Wiltshire court heard that Dadhurshanan Wairaiyan was an active drug dealer who made regular trips between London, Farnham and East Hampshire.
But his part in the network was smashed on June 1 when his Nissan Qashqai was stopped on the A31 near Alton as part of an investigation into drug dealing in the district.
Officers found and seized more than 30 bags of crack cocaine wraps, a bag of cannabis, two mobile phones and further items of drug-related paraphernalia during a search of his vehicle.
The 26-year-old of Ravenhill Road, Plaistow, was arrested and charged with possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply and possession of a Class B drug.
He pleaded guilty to both charges during a June 3 appearance at Basingstoke Magistrates Court before being sentenced on Friday, August 30, at Salisbury Crown Court, to five years in prison.
DC Becky Deacon from the Havant & Waterlooville Investigations Department hailed the result before adding the police want to make Hampshire a “hostile place” for drug dealers to operate in.
She said: “This is a significant sentence that demonstrates that we will not tolerate the supply of drugs in East Hampshire.
“Our message to those involved in the supply of drugs is simple. We will relentlessly pursue you until you face a day in court if you take part in similar activities.
“We recognise people do travel into our communities from elsewhere to commit these offences, so it’s especially important for the public to report activity that they believe could be related to the supply of drugs so that we can investigate accordingly.”
