Rowledge’s century-old village hall is set for a transformative change, with plans to replace the ageing structure with two new four-bedroom homes.
The move, backed by Rowledge Village Hall Trustees, aims to fund a much-needed replacement community facility in Fullers Road.
The existing hall, over a hundred years old and in disrepair, will make way for homes, which the trustees say will help meet local demand aligning with national and local policies.
The design incorporates traditional materials, energy-efficient features, and a focus on ecological sustainability. Retaining existing trees and exceeding biodiversity net gain requirements, the proposal prioritises community and environmental considerations.
Trustees have engaged with neighbours, incorporating local feedback into the plan. Pending approval, the residential development is contingent upon completing the new village hall, expected by 2026.
