A PENSIONER with a head for heights is once again going over the top to raise funds for a south Hampshire hospice.
Iris Holt has completed more than a dozen abseils during the last decade in aid of The Rowans Hospice.
So the 78-year-old from Petersfield will be comfortable making another great leap for the good cause at the Spinnaker Tower this Sunday morning.
The fundraiser from Upper Heyshott will be easy to spot from the ground as Iris will be dressed as a polar bear.
But that’s to be expected from the self-proclaimed “old bat” and former Petersfield Personality of the Year winner.
She said: “I started doing abseils when I was 70 and did the first one down a 20-storey tower block with Chris Evans.“
“The Rowans want me to do one at the O2 but that would mean going up to London by train and I can’t go to London without going to the theatre. Plus I’m a bit of an old bat and I think I would hold people up.”
Iris – who has raised around £13,000 for the Rowans over the last decade – will be dressed as a bear because the creature and the hospice won’t exist without help.
She’s already raised £480 ahead of her latest abseil and hopes her latest leap will inspire others to help.
