A new team of uniformed officers are taking to the streets to tackle some of the “tough issues” facing Whitehill & Bordon and its nearby villages.
Fly-tipping, anti-social behaviour, littering and dangerous and inconsiderate parking are among the issues district officers will investigate.
The team – billed as “the eyes and ears of East Hampshire District Council – will posted where there are issues to resolve across the patch while their work will be evidence-led.
They will work closely with partner organisations, will complement the police, and will liaise with people in their communities to have the biggest possible impact.
Tackling anti-social behaviour and inconsiderate parking, especially around schools, are among the top issues the officers will be aiming to address.
It is hoped the district officers will provide a visible, recognisable and reassuring presence to the people of W&B, Lindford and Greatham.
Cllr Andy Tree, EHDC portfolio holder for Whitehill & Bordon said some issues – especially anti-social behaviour – are blighting his area.
He said: “We will be able to focus specifically on issues that matter to our residents, such as anti-social behaviour and poor parking.
“The officers will be able to effectively target resources to resolve a wide variety of matters that affect the local area and have an adverse impact on our local community.”
Cllr Tree added: “Their work will be led by the data, so they can target litter hotspots of areas notorious for fly-tipping as they arise.
“And as a uniformed authority, they aim to be a reassuring visible presence across Whitehill, Bordon, Lindford and Greatham.”
The team’s functions and responsibilities also include abandoned vehicle removal, dog fouling, moving on unlawful encampments and stray dogs.
