Car park users in Petersfield and Alton have been told to stick it to the conman as a scam is doing the rounds.
East Hampshire District Council has reported that scammers are sticking QR code stickers on some ticket machines.
People who scan the code on their smartphone are taken to a payment website but the page is fake.
The district council, which runs a host of pay and display car parks around Petersfield and Alton, has urged users not to scan a code if they see one on any of their machines.
A spokesperson said: “We do not use any QR code stickers on payment machines in EHDC car parks.
“If you do see any QR code stickers on a machine in our car parks, please report to [email protected]”
Anyone who has previously scanned a QR code on a ticket machine report it to the police via 101.
