Liphook is counting down to its annual carnival with new and exciting things expected to make this year’s event even better.

This year’s carnival will be on Saturday (October 28) and all the money raised will go to local charities and organisations. People  are encouraged to take their change as ‘every little bit counts, no matter how small’. 

The event will begin with the float competition, with floats, push-and-pull vehicles and adult fancy dress to be assembled on Longmoor Road by 5.30pm for judging at 5.45pm. 

Batala Portsmouth, a samba band, will be playing their authentic Afro Brazilian Samba Reggae music at 6.15pm in the square ready for the crowning of the carnival’s royalty at 6.45pm. 

Carnival goers can grab a bite to eat and refreshment along Station Road or check out what the local shops, pubs, restaurants and cafés have to offer. At 7pm the procession will head off and return through the square at 8.30pm. 

While the procession is ongoing, people can attend the funfair at the Millennium Green and see what prizes they can win. 

To end the evening, fireworks will be at 9pm at the Recreation Ground which has been specifically chosen this year to allow people with pushchairs or mobility aids to enjoy the display along with everyone else. 

But the night doesn’t stop there! The Links Tavern and Liphook and Bramshott Social Club have live bands on from 9pm until late. 

People can get into the groove by dancing to 19Eighties at The Links and Jive Street at The Club.

Road closures are in place from 6pm to 9pm with the exception of Longmoor Road, from 2.30pm to 9pm, and London Road from 6pm to 10pm.
