To my surprise I returned to my car on Alton High Street after donating items to the charity shop and found I had been issued with a parking ticket.
I knew I had not overstayed my time and when I got home and opened the penalty charge it informed me that I had “not parked correctly within the markings of the bay”.
As far as I was aware I had parked correctly but having driven home, it was too late to check and therefore too late to challenge the penalty charge.
In future I will take a photo on my mobile in case I need “evidence”. But to other motorists, beware of the over zealous civil enforcement officer (traffic warden!). Take a photo and have proof, just in case!
