Sarah Matthews was not able to travel to London to pay her respects, so she spent what she would have spent on a train fare on food for Haslemere Food Bank.
She said: “It’s been a sad week for me and like many others it’s reawakened my grief, but doing something positive and helping those in our community that are struggling has given me a real lift.
“I hope others that can’t go in person to pay their respects can do something positive in memory of Her Majesty.”
