TODDLERS from a pre-school in Liss have thrown themselves into a biodiversity project at a village park.

Around a dozen children from Chatter Splatter Pre-School threw bee bombs – clumps of sand containing wildflower seeds – around a patch close to Newman Collard pond last Wednesday.

They were invited to get their hands dirty by the Newman Collard Trust, Liss Parish Council and their partners in a project to turn the area into a pollination hotspot.

The area should become a hive of bee activity next year as thousands more wildflowers have been planted around the adjacent path and Men’s Shed.

Around 200 square metres of wildflower seeds have been planted along with 7,000 snowdrop, crocus and daffodil bulbs.

Cllr Roger Mullenger and other contributors were thanked for the funding with plans underway to brighten up other parts of the recreation ground.
