Strong winds forecast for the weekend have forced the cancellation of this Sunday’s Farnham Christmas Market.
The Met Office has issued a Yellow weather warning for the South East, with Storm Darragh expected to bring disruption through heavy rain and winds.
Event organiser Farnham Town Council announced: “We regret to inform you that the Farnham Christmas Market will be cancelled this Sunday due to Storm Darragh.”
Although the weather is expected to improve throughout Sunday, strong wind gusts of around 50 mph are forecast during the market's setup time, which begins at 5am.
In a statement, the council emphasised that the “safety of the public, stallholders, performers, volunteers, and staff is our top priority.”
“We deeply apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, especially to the wonderful stallholders and entertainers and appreciate your understanding,” the statement added.
“Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to hopefully seeing you at the farmers' market on December 22.”
