I was hosting the Vic’s Buskers acoustic stage at Staycation in Godalming at the weekend.
Saturday was difficult because of the rain but Sunday was particularly good as the weather brightened up!
It’s not long now till Weyfest Music Festival which runs from August 17 to 20 at the Rural Life Museum in Tilford. Headliners include Jools Holland, Ocean Colour Scene, Boomtown Rats and Incognito.
I will again be hosting the Rustic Stage. It’s a great family festival – get your tickets while they are still available at www.weyfest.co.uk
Edwin “Boots” Baker has been in touch to tell me Key Lime Pi are playing live at the Jolly Farmer in Blacknest tomorrow (Friday). They are a lively nine-piece ska, funk and dance band and always well worth seeing.
This Sunday Late To The Party will be playing on Farnham bandstand in Gostrey Meadow from 3pm as part of the Music In The Meadow series. They play a great selection of well-known indie rock songs. Entry is free.
Maltings Lunchtime Jazz returns next Thursday (August 24) with a flavour of Benny Goodman, as they welcome clarinet and saxophonist Martin Nickless.
He is a highly-regarded musician with extensive experience as a senior clarinettist, saxophonist, composer and arranger, having worked on projects such as the BBC’s New Artist programme and American Big Bands.
His impressive discography includes playing and arranging for esteemed bands like the Chris Barber Big Band, The Pasadena Roof Orchestra and Glen Miller UK.
Doors open at 12.30pm and the concert starts at 1pm. You’re welcome to take along your own drinks and sandwiches, and entry is £8 on the door.
Brian Player continues his Folk, Roots and Acoustic music show each Tuesday at 8pm on Wey Valley Radio based in Alton (101.1FM or online at www.weyvalley.uk)
