Thanks to those who came down to my gig at The Wheatsheaf, Farnham – it was a fun night. My “song request” list was particularly popular.

Today (Thursday) it’s Farnham Maltings Lunchtime Jazz with guest player guitarist Nicolas Meier joining the house musicians. Doors from 12.30pm with music at 1pm. Tickets are £8 on the door.

Jazz At The Ivy, hosted by Sandra Lambert, at The Bush Hotel, Farnham has moved to the last Thursday of the month and is tonight. This month it’s a Hot Club Gypsy Jazz evening featuring Ben Holder, Dominic Ashworth and the house trio. 

Tickets are £19.50 from 07778 669065. They have a “Louis Armstrong/Frank Sinatra” special in October and one of my swinging favourites, saxophonist/vocalist Ray Gelato, in November.

Tomorrow (Friday) it’s Kings of Swing with Paul Hudson at The Fox and Finch, Godalming. It’s free entry.

Sadly, the Key Lime Pi gig last Saturday had to be cancelled because of illness but this energetic ska outfit will be playing at The William Cobbett in Farnham this Saturday.

Fleet Jazz has a lunchtime session at The Harlington in Fleet on October 5 featuring  award-winning guitarist Nigel Price. His blend of flowing bebop lines with a deep blues sensibility continue to delight audiences.

Marianne Windham will be on bass and Alex Goodyear on drums. It runs from midday to 1pm and tickets are £10.

Grayshott Folk Club returns on Saturday, October 14 when they host James Yorkston and Nina Persson at Grayshott Village Hall. 

They will be performing songs from their collaborative new album The Great White Sea Eagle, which  went straight to number one in The Official Folk Chart.
