TWO elderly motorists had a “lucky escape” after a tree fell on their car during Storm Brian last Saturday.
Police were called at 3.12pm following reports that a Ford Focus had been struck by a falling tree on the A325 Petersfield Road between Whitehill and the A3 access road.
Police closed the road while the occupants of the car - a man and a woman in their 80s who have not been named by the emergency services - were freed from their vehicle by the fire service.
The couple sustained minor injuries and paramedics treated them at the scene.
The Hampshire air-ambulance helicoter arrived, but the couple did not board.
They were taken for observation to Frimley Park Hospital, in Surrey, and later discharged.
The Hampshire Constabulary roads-policing unit released these photographs on Twitter, describing the crash as a “lucky escape” for the elderly couple.
