East Hampshire District Council’s (EHDC) Cabinet has declared its former officers and parts of land surplus.
The former offices at Penns Place have been declared surplus to the council’s needs and EHDC will now work with its partners on the land’s future use.
EHDC staff moved out of the old offices and into Monterey House, Petersfield in March. The former offices have since been stripped and decommissioned.
Cllr Richard Millard, EHDC leader, said: “The council has to take care with public assets and public finances and it will look to maximise the value of this brownfield site.
“It will continue to work with other landowners to work out how the best sports facilities can be provided at Penns Place, while respecting the environmental designations affecting the site.”
The council is incurring costs associated with holding Penns Place as a vacant site, so a solution for the future of the site needs to be identified as quickly as possible to limit the length of time expenditure is required.
As part of the transformation programme EHDC has undertaken a review of its properties with a view to ensuring any that are no longer required are declared surplus to requirements.
Cabinet also declared other parcels of land surplus.
They include:
- Land next to Forest Community Centre, Bordon
- Former Doctors Surgery, 28a Park Street, Bordon
- Amenity land at Dell Field, Froxfield
- Land at Manor Estate, Alton
- Land adjacent to Dennis Way, Liss
- Land adjacent to Conde Way and Apollo Drive, Bordon
- Rogers Court Car Park, Alton
