Two young photographers have won awards in a competition organised by Alton Rotary on the theme of The Beauty of Architecture

The competition was for seven to 17-year-olds, and entries were received from a number of local primary and secondary schools.

Toby Bayliss from Chawton C of E School was the winner in the junior category, with a photograph of St Nicholas Church in Chawton.

And the winner in the intermediate category was Oliver Scobie of Amery Hill School, with an unusual view of the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth.

Toby and Oliver were presented with gift tokens and certificates.

Their entries will now go forward to a regional final for central southern England in April and, if successful, to a national final later this year.

The organiser of the local heat, Rotary member Alan Falder, said: “There was a very encouraging level of entry together with interpretation of a challenging theme.”
