A MOTORIST suffered serious injuries in an accident on the A3.
A man in his 40s driving a Kia Creed car was taken to Southampton General Hospital by air ambulance after what police described as a “single vehicle collision” on the northbound carriageway just outside the Hindhead Tunnel at around 11.45am last Friday.
Both carriageways of the A3 were closed either side of the Hindhead Tunnel to allow the emergency services to treat the man, who had to be cut out of his car by fire crews from Haslemere and Petersfield.
The tunnel was re-opened around 1.50pm, relieving congestion on the A325 at Bordon and the A31 Alton to Farnham road.
Anyone who saw the accident should call Surrey Police on 101.
