A serial criminal has been banned from entering Farnham and large swathes of Hampshire after a whiskey theft landed him in the dock.

The draconian ban on Daniel Jankovic was imposed by a judge at Winchester Crown Court as part of a three-year extension to the defendant’s Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

The 27-year-old of no fixed abode was given the harsher order after police provided the court with evidential documents of Jankovic’s latest offences.

Jankovic was jailed for 12 weeks on February 17 after pleading guilty to theft from a shop and common assault.

He was arrested after stealing a Jack Daniels gift box worth nearly £50 from a convenience store in Basingstoke and threatening a man in his 40s.

The defendant has a long list of offences and was jailed for six months in 2022 for spitting into a paramedic’s face during the height of the Covid pandemic.

His extended CBO bars him from entering Farnham, Ash Vale, Ash Wharf, Rushmoor and Basingstoke & Deane unless attending a pre-arranged appointment.

Jankovic is also not allowed to touch or enter any motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.

He must also not be in possession of any financial documents or cards which are in any name, other than his own. If he fails to comply with these conditions, he risks being arrested and prosecuted further.

Basingstoke Inspector Charlie Ilderton said: "Daniel Jankovic is a prolific offender and we know his actions have had a considerable impact on the community.

“We hope this reassures the local community that we will continue to take action and also explore other options – such as this CBO – to prevent further offending.

“We want the community to keep reporting to police, so we can continue to work with partners to address these behaviours, and take appropriate action against any criminal offences."
