Petitioners, politicians and parliamentary hopefuls have all made a plea as the clock runs down on a consultation that could spell the end for Bordon tip.

Hampshire residents have under a fortnight have their say on how to save the county council £132million, with 13 services facing massive cuts.

Up to 12 waste and recycling centres could also be closed, including sites in Bordon and Petersfield.

The fight goes on with a ‘Prevent the Closure of Bordon’s Refuse and Recycle Centre’ petition, launched on www.change.org on Tuesday by Bordon resident Sandra Gray, attracting several dozen signatures within four hours.

There’s cross-party agreement with the Conservative hopeful for the new Farnham and Bordon seat launching his own petition, and the Lib Dem candidate calling for the proposed cuts to be “urgently re-assessed”.

County councillor and Whitehill & Bordon Community Party leader Andy Tree also circulated a two-page letter early this week, calling the possible closure a “regressive step”.
