A group of high-flyers are keeping their feet on the ground after getting a £250 cheque from their Bordon supporters.

Captain David Pennell of the Samuel Cody Aviation Lodge gave the handout to the Bordon Air Training Corps (ATC).

The group based at the Bordon Masonic Centre is one of three aviation-related charities the lodge supports.

Members learned that Nigel Wilson had organised the presentation as the charity steward was a cadet who obtained a pilot’s licence before learning to drive.

The Falklands War veteran also flew with the RAF for nine years before flying ‘big birds’ over the pond with British Airways.

The lodge also supports Aerobility, a Blackbushe Airport charity which teaches people with physical disabilities to fly, and Civil Air Support, which transports medical items around the UK in conjunction with Blood Bikers.

The lodge meets five times a year, for more details look for Samuel Cody Aviation Lodge on Facebook.
