PROPOSED changes to Bordon's Chase Community Hospital were put before Hampshire County Council's health overview and scrutiny committee on Tuesday.

It follows resounding concern that the NHS had not done enough to engage with the public.

The milestone in the scheme followed a "fierce" public meeting last Wednesday called by campaigner Fiona Jackson, who was concerned about the proposed loss of eight beds.

At the county council meeting, it was resolved that the NHS Primary Care Trust will need to produce a business case for the redevelopment of the Chase Community Hospital, outlining the risks and proposed mitigations of the service change.

Among these proposed changes is the reallocation of the funds spent on the "underused" beds at the Chase - the most expensive to keep in Hampshire.
