HEADLEY Bowling Club presented a cheque for £1,130 to Bob Goodyear and David Bailey of the Diabetes UK Petersfield and District Group.

Mr Bailey said: “Each year the bowling club arrange a fun day for its members when they raise funds for a local charity. We were surprised and honoured when the bowling club president, Don Stephens, contacted Bob, our secretary, to say that they wished to support our group’s work this year.

“We were surprised that a group of about 60 enthusiastic members could raise this staggering amount of money in one day. We thank them all for their kindness and generosity.”

And he added: “Yes, we were bowled over by their support!”

After the presentation of the cheque Bob and David spoke about the work of Diabetes UK and of the group.

The diabetes group will meet at The Half Moon at Steep at noon on November 26 and again in St Peter’s Hall in Petersfield at 2.30 pm on October 20 and December 8.
