An event in Bordon has given a helping hand to jobseekers looking for a New Direction.

A jobs fair was recently held in the Forest Community Centre to give local firms the platform to fill vacancies and connect with potential candidates.

Tesco were among the nine businesses which set up stall at the event funded by East Hampshire District Council’s Grow Up! programme.

Three employment advisors were also on hand to offer support and advice on things like CVs and job searching.

The event was organised by Fedcap, a not-for-profit organisation which delivers employability support programmes in local communities to improve people’s economic mobility.

“Events like these are a great way to give people looking for work a foot back in the door,” said Councillor Rob Mocatta, EHDC Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Prosperity.

“Businesses also find them very useful not just in terms of meeting prospective staff but also networking amongst themselves.

“Our Grow Up! programme is committed to supporting rural businesses in the district and offering local people new employment opportunities. Fairs like this one are a great way to do both.”

Staying in East Hampshire, a business park between Liss and Greatham has become the perfect fit for a firm which produces customised garments and workwear.

TEC Promotions has moved from Petersfield to Ham Barn Business Park with the doors of its new premises off Farnham Road opening on Wednesday (March 25).

“While our location has changed, everything else remains the same,” said a spokesperson for the firm.

“You can continue to expect the same great service and products that you always have.

“Our move to a larger space allows us the opportunity to continue to grow and offer our customers even more in the future. If you’re in the area, we would be delighted to welcome you.”
