Fans of classic cinema were deeply impressed with the transformation of a Bordon venue for a special screening.
The Phoenix Theatre & Arts Centre was transformed into a mining town on March 2 for a St David’s Day showing of How Green Was My Valley?
The 52 ‘miners’ who attended the screening passed a row of pit houses before descending into the darkness of the mine-cinema once being granted a token.
Residents of the valley could grab a pint at the Pit Pony Public House beforehand and tuck into items from a miner’s lunchbox halfway through the “working day”.
Sticks of dynamite adorning the Welsh-themed tables and a yellow canary cocktail on the menu to quench the thirst of viewers.
There was no popcorn on offer but attendees were treated to a bag of coal sweets to munch on and keep their energy levels high.
