The MP for Bordon has gone back to school to pass on advice to the politicians of the future.
A walk down the corridors of power would usually mean a visit to the headteacher’s office for Bordon Infant School pupils.
But it means something different to Greg Stafford MP, with the Conservative keen to talk about his life in Westminster to their inquisitive pupils.
The MP met staff, pupils and the school’s young governors after accepting an invitation from headteacher Matthew Greenhalgh.
The visitor learned about the school’s significant expansion before taking questions and encouraging Bordon’s next generation to engage with their community.
It was his first “official” visit to a Whitehill & Bordon school as MP, so he was keen to get pupils interested in politics and the issues that matter most.
He said: “It is always a pleasure to visit local schools.
“As my first official school visit in Whitehill & Bordon, I was sincerely impressed by both the teachers and pupils.
“The school goes above and beyond to support its pupils, including working with external agencies such as the NHS to ensure children receive the support they need.”
Mr Greenhalgh was keen to give Mr Stafford an insight into the growing Bordon school – which will soon accommodate three classes – while allowing pupils to meet the man who represents them in parliament.
He said: “It was lovely to have the chance to show Greg around Bordon Infant School and discuss our ongoing expansion to support our growing school community.
“We believe education is at the heart of any community and it was a privilege to welcome our new local MP to see the hard work of our children and staff.”
He added: “The pupils thoroughly enjoyed his visit, asked some fantastic questions, and learned more about his work.”
