Bordon’s food bank has made an urgent appeal for help as it looks to feed the town’s less fortunate over the summer holidays.

The good cause is “desperately short of supplies” ahead of the six-week break with demand continuing to grow.

Their supplies of tea, tinned vegetables, preserves and peanut butter are seriously low while cakes, biscuits, nappies and baby wipes are also in short supply.

Toiletry supplies could also do with topping up but any donation will make a difference as the food bank regularly spends around £1,000 a week on supplies.

“For Mother’s Day we were able to give a small gift to every mummy, thanks to a donation of lots of lovely bamboo travel mugs which we filled with donated chocolate,” said Bordon Food Bank volunteer, Maureen Holden.

“But now we have imminent school holidays and the food bank is desperately short of supplies right now.

“So anything you are able to put into the collection boxes at Tesco and Lidl is greatly appreciated.”

She added: “There is never a week that passes without the food bank getting new referrals and we are still giving out approximately 140 food packs a week.

“Our clients range from babies of a few days old to couples in their 80s, so we need everything that can be eaten or used in a household.”

Bordon Food Bank is based at Unit 13 in the Forest Centre, while donations can be made through the collection points at the town’s aforementioned superstores.
